The TRIGGER and GATE SELECT section is more important than its diminutive size suggests, as without selection a trigger source the usual result is silence! The TRIGGER switch selects the keyboard triggering mode. In the MULTIPLE mode the envelopes are reset every time a new key is depressed, whilst in SINGLE the gate stays on while at least one key is held. The triggering is last-note-priority but with an unusual characteristic. It remembers the first note that you play and, once you have released all subsequent notes, it returns to this (as long as you are still holding it down!). The GATE SELECT section determines which source will trigger the envelope generators, and at least one must be on for them to function. The options are: KBD (keyboard), X (determined by the MOD X frequency) and Y/EXT. In stand-alone operation, Y/EXT will trigger the envelopes a t a rate set by SHAPER Y's RATE. However, if an external signal is applied to the EXTERNAL GATE IN socket, this replaces the SHAPER Y signal.
